and Team Role
Solution Provider
GET SET is a way of finding out:
- How you can be useful in a team
- How to talk about yourself positively at interview and in your personal statement
- How the people who know you think you work best
It also gives you the chance to try out different sorts of roles in a team and helps teams
to work at their best. It is based on the Belbin Team Role theory, which has been used
in thousands of businesses all over the world.
Will it tell me what career I should be aiming for?
GET SET doesnʼt rule any career paths in or out.
What it does is to give you the self-awareness to make an informed choice about
what sort of work will suit you best and allow you to get the most out of it.
It also provides you with key advice on presenting yourself well at interview so that
you can show your strengths with confidence.
How long does it take?
The GET SET questionnaire
takes only 15 minutes to
complete. All you will need is
internet access.
The questions are about how you
behave in different situations, so
there are no right and wrong
answers.
You can then go on to ask other
people their opinion of you,
making them your observers. It
will only take each observer 5
minutes to complete their
observer questionnaire. You can
get them to fill it in online as well,
so your observers wonʼt all need
to be in one room together.
How does it work?
It all starts with a questionnaire. We find out what you like to do whenyou are in a team and how everyone else sees you. You receive a profile that shows which of the 9 team roles are currently
your strongest. It also gives advice about how you should show your
strengths, and what to say to sell yourself in interviews and on paper.
What are the 9 team roles?
The team roles are 9 sorts of behaviour which a team needs. They
were discovered by Meredith Belbin when he set out to research why
some teams succeed and others fail. He found that a balanced team
with all of the roles would achieve much better results than one with
only some of them.
So whichever of the team roles you display, you can be useful, as long
as you use them well. Most individuals have more than one which they
play well. Identifying your top roles is an important step in working out
how to behave.
